Rock carvings on The North York Moors.

BILSDALE - Urra Moor
This cup and ring marked slab was originally reported by Stanhope White(1), and located again by Mr Chris Evans in June 2000.
The large slab is located on an east/west section of an earthwork (date unknown) that has been constructed on the moor.

Though very eroded, the carvings consist of a small cup and ring mark and 3 more cup marks, two of which have faint traces of an "eyebrow" style groove above the cups (possibly the remains of a surrounding ring mark).
There are other un-eroded linear marks on the slab which may be recent damage. (See pic below) Some nearby slabs also have eroded cup marks and the faintest suggestion of ring marks that have unfortunately eroded away. So the site may have been similar to that on Near moor further to the west.

The earthwork ends abruptly about 20m west of the carved slab and a small setting of stones have been placed on the terminal of the banking, which overlooks a wet and boggy area. (see pics below) what is it???
