Robin Hoods Well - Kilnsey
(SE 9789 6576)

This well was identified from the OS map and is located on the east side of the road from Threshfield to Kilnsey Crag. The spring breaks out at the foot of the steep bank beside the road but the spring outlet is hidden by the abundant growth of yellow flowered plants. The strong out flow from the spring is enough to form a pond and flowing stream which enters the river Wharfe a short distance away.

There are several Robin hood Wells in Yorkshire but the connection between the wells and this legendary figure seems to have been lost.

Access - The spring is accessible from the footpath along the river bank.
Condition - Good, a strong flowing natural spring.
