Knox's 1821 map shows a Hilda Well on
Aislaby moor, unfortunately it is not marked on the modern OS maps. Pat
O'halloran checked the area and found this
oblong shaped pool among the birch scrub that now covers much of the
moor. This pool could be the spring/well
mentioned by Charlton .... However there is also a covered reservoir to the north of this pool and this might also have been the site of the well. L. Charlton, A History of Whitby and of

Access - The pool is among the birch scrub due south of
the parking area off the A . Condition - In a natural overgrown state. |
