Adam's Ale Spring - Brimham Rocks
 (SE 2048 6435)

The words "Adam's Ale" have been carved on a large boulder alongside a woodland footpath, just to the south of Brimham Rocks.
Originally it looks as if the water flowed from underneath the rock, but the outlet has silted up and today there is just a boggy pool in front of it. The actual spring (see larger pic below) is located among the rocks a few yards behind the boulder, and the stream now flows to one side of it.

Unfortunately for Adam (the biblical first man) there had been no one before him to discover the art of brewing, so his only drink was water, hence the kenning -Adam's ale.

Access - The well is located by a public footpath in a wooded area.
Condition - With a little work the water could be made to flow again from under the rock.
