Lady Well - Goodmanham
(SE 8872 4299)

This lady well is to be found in a field of rough pasture on the west side of Goodmanham village, with the well located in a hollow on the hillside. In the past the water from this well was apparently used for baptisms in the church, but today the spring is in a natural state and the water issues from under the roots of a hawthorn bush (the tree looked pretty much dead on a visit to the well in September 1999).
On our visit there was a small but steady flow of water from the spring and someone has taken the time to arrange a few stones around the spring outlet in an effort to form a small pool which also helps to mark the site. Keep up the good work - well guardian!

Access - A footpath from the village runs close to the well.
Condition - Good, but the Hawthorn tree seems dead.
